If
you have purchased add-ons for Eclipse, they require serial
numbers and/or custom codes to be entered to unlock the functionality
you want. Serial numbers are entered directly into your 4D
Server system
Expansion Serial Numbers
If
you were told in the instructions with your add-on, to enter
an expansion number, you would have been given specific 4D
Expansion Serial Number(s) to enter. If you didn't get these,
then there is no need to enter any expansion serial numbers.
Proceed to the next section (Custom Codes).
To
enter Expansion Serial Number(s), you do this on a multi-user
Eclipse system only. This is done on the 4D Server software,
running on your server. You will need to be able to go to
the server to enter these values. Login to your server, and
you will see the following screen for 4D Server. Then click
on the File menu.

Select
'Update Licenses' and the following (or similar) screen will
be displayed:

Click
on the 'Add' button next to 'Add Expansion Serial Number'.
This will bring up the following window:

Enter
the Expansion Serial Number that you have been provided here.
Then click OK. To check if you entered this correctly, after
returning to the Update License screen, click on the + sign
next to the Serial No showing for your system. An entry with
the Expansion Serial Number that you entered should now being
showing. Click on the + sign next to it, and you'll see what
capability has been added to your server. If you don't see
this, then the serial number entered was incorrect or invalid.
Repeat the serial number entry steps again until it shows
up.
When
you have successfully updated the expansion serial number
of your server, you will need to restart the 4D Server software
for it to take affect.
Custom Codes
Custom
codes define specific functionality that your Eclipse system
will have. All Eclipse software includes the complete suite
of functionality required, but is limited depending upon the
custom codes that you have installed in your system. This
also allows us to create custom functionality on a customer
by customer basis, and turn it on only for those customers
that need that custom functionality. This protects the future
upgrade path of any client that has customization done to
their Eclipse system.
Custom
modification codes are shown on the first page of the Preferences
on a 4D Client workstation connected to Eclipse. So to change
them, you must first have your Eclipse server started (if
this is a multi-user system), or start Eclipse single user.
When
started, you will get the Eclipse desktop showing:

Click
on the Administration menu, and select 'Preferences'
You
will see the first page of the Preferences.

Click
on the word 'Code' in the title of the Custom Modification
code area (as shown in the diagram, where the arrow is pointing).
The following window will appear:

The
reseller password to use is: zanzibar
If
the password is accepted, you will be returned back to the
System Preferences, but the Custom Modification Code area
will now be editable. Highlight whatever value is currently
showing in that field with the mouse, and click Backspace
to clear it out. Make sure all characters have been removed
from the field.
You
will be given a new custom modification code. Copy & Paste
this into your clipboard from an email, and paste this value
into the Custom Modification Code field. Or if you were given
this value on a printed document, type it exactly as shown
into the field. Sometimes, depending on the number of items
in your custom modification, the number will be long. Be very
careful to enter it correctly.
When
finished press the TAB key to exit the field. If you entered
the value correctly, you will get a message stating 'Value
Accepted'. If not, you will be told that there is a problem
in the value. Repeat the steps here to re-enter the value
(make sure that any trailing invisible characters such as
spaces, etc. are removed - they are the most likely cause
of problems in this).
Once
the entry has been accepted, click SAVE.
Now
your system has the correct Custom Modification Code installed.
If you are running multi-user Eclipse, you will need to Quit
4D Server and restart it. Log out all users first. If you
are running Single User Eclipse, you will need to File ->
Quit Eclipse, and restart it.
On
restart, the changes will go into affect on your system.
Now
each add-on option for Eclipse will have its own specific
Preferences that need to be setup. Consult the documentation
specific to the add-on that you have purchased for instructions
on setting it up the way you want it to be done.
